Module 1 - Critical and Reflective Dimension
This Module has the following aims:
- getting familiar with what the Critical and Reflective Dimension entails;
- exploring how the Critical and Reflective Dimension of DC relates to Foreign language teaching and learning.In order to do so, you will be asked to:
- reflect on:
(i) the increasing digitalization of one's life, namely, on the time spent online;
(ii) Internet addiction and possible consequences;
(iii) how the Critical and Reflective Dimension of DC can be explored in Foreign language teaching and learning.
Critical and Reflective Dimension: awareness for global and digital diversity
The Critical and Reflective Dimension relates to the awareness for global and digital diversity that makes it possible to reflect on the increasing digitalization of learners’ life worlds.

- Reflect on the increasing digitalization of one's life
Task 1
After watching the video, reflect on the following questions:
- How much time do you spend online?
- How much time is too much time online?
- What is Internet addiction?
- Do you believe you show signs of Internet addiction?
- Which are the consequences of internet addiction?
- Would you consider changing anything in the future as far as internet use is concerned?
- Do you take action if you see that during a day/week you have spent too much time online?
You can explore this topic with your students and use the Teaching Unit as a guiding example.
